DOC’S CORNER — Issue #8

BTF Boxing Awardz 2025
DOC’S PROGNOSIS
There is none today!
What’s good family — Doc is back in your inbox!
Today, we celebrate boxing by presenting the top performers in the sport with the awards that they deserve for outshining the rest!
Without further ado, let’s get to it!
Pound-for-Pound King : Terence Crawford
I mean, is there any explanation required? Terence “Bud” Crawford ascended multiple weight divisions to dethrone the undisputed, face of boxing, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at super middleweight! Doing so, he became the first male boxer to become 3x undisputed in the four belt era; that comes after already being the first to do it 2x as well.
Crawford has since retired, and couldn’t have picked a better way to hang up the gloves. BTF, say hello to your P4P King, Terence “Bud” Crawford.
Let’s look at the runner-ups:
Naoya Inoue
Oleksandr Usyk

Terence Crawford with all of the belts.
Female & Male Fighter of the Year
This was a difficult one on both counts…and the crazy part is that the women were actually more difficult of a choice than their male counterparts! Nevertheless, a choice was made, albeit a difficult choice, a choice was made nonetheless. Let’s get to it.
FOTY (Female): Claressa “GWOAT” Shields
As stated, this was a difficult decision…so difficult that I made a poll on the DBT YouTube channel and the BTF have spoken! I personally went with Tiara Brown, for her three victories this year, including upsetting Skye Nicolson for her WBC title and defending it. However, this is a democracy, not an autocracy, and BTF voted for one of my favorite fighters in the game, The GWOAT, Claressa Shields, as the Female Fighter of the Year. Below are the other nominees.
Tiara “The Dark Menace” Brown
Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson
Camila “Magnifica” Zamorano
Elif Nur Turhan
FOTY (Male): Terence “Bud” Crawford
This one was also a tough choice, but as already explained above, Terence Crawford’s one fight was THE ONE FIGHT that every fighter wish they could have. However, Bam Rodriguez is a guy that I feel deserves it second most. Two fights against two undefeated champions, and stopped them both!? Doesn’t get much better than that. Hopefully, he can get a shot at that IBF strap, too, and achieve undisputed glory. Of course, Naoya Inoue had a MONSTER year, four fights in twelve months!? That’s amazing, but I prioritize quality over quantity. Out of those four fights, only one was of quality opposition, that was his WBA ORDERED mandatory, MJ Akhmadaliev. For me, that’s not enough to put him over the aforementioned fighters. Let’s check out the nominees.
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez
Naoya “Monster” Inoue
Fabio Wardley
Devin “Deebo” Haney

Female FOTY

Male FOTY
FIGHT & KNOCKOUT OF THE YEAR
This next one is why you can’t sleep on the smaller divisions! There were plenty of great fights, and I don’t intend to disrespect any of those bangers that aren’t included, but this one in Japan stole the show! Kenshiro Teraji vs. Seigo Akui went down to the wire and saw The Amazing Boy come out victorious, but WE SAW a fantastic fight! Here are the other nominees.
Saul Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford
Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martinez
Isaac Cruz vs. Angel Fierro
Chris Eubank vs. Conor Benn 1
Junto Nakatani vs. Sebastian Hernandez
Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev 2

Fight of the Year
This is everybody’s FAVORITE category, right? You know what it is… Knockout of the Year! This one was pretty straightforward for me…and the BTF agrees via poll on the DBT YouTube channel. The KO of the Year was none other than Brian Norman Jr.’s DEVASTATING ONE PUNCH stoppage of Jin Sasaki. Still, it wasn’t exactly easy selecting this one; check out the other nominees below.
Frank Martin vs. Rances Barthelemy
Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni
Elif Nur Turhan vs. Beatriz Ferreira
Jesse Rodriguez vs. Fernando Martinez
Jai Opetaia vs. David Nyika
